National AIDS Memorial is the organization that maintains the AIDS Memorial Quilt. It seeks to make sure that the stories the Quilt tells is able to used as education for generations to come and that the voices from the crisis years are still heard today. 

One of the ways that National AIDS Memorial works to honor the impact of the AIDS Quilt is through the Names Project, where individual names on the quilt are able to be searched for via an interactive database. Because of the diligent work done by those working on the Names Project, SDES is able to feature some of the panels from the Quilt at this event. 

 

 

Equitas Health is a Columbus-based health organization that strives to remove barriers to healthcare, we also seek to extend their care beyond the walls of a doctor’s office and more traditional healthcare options by offering additional health & wellness services such as STI testing, dentistry, legal support, HIV counselling and support, and much more. 

Mozaic is a health and wellness, HIV prevention, and community building initiative for trans & gender non-conforming people of color ages 13-29. Mozaic is a Centers for Disease Control funded grant in the Institute for LGBTQ Health Equity that works closely with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, community organizations, and local activists to reduce the disproportionately high rates of HIV that trans and gender non-conforming people of color experience.

The Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization (BRAVO) provides comprehensive individual and community programs for survivor advocacy and support to LGBTQ+ survivors of hate and bias violence, discrimination, intimate partner violence, stalking, and/or sexual assault.

BRAVO works to eliminate violence perpetrated on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identification, domestic violence, and sexual assault through prevention, education, advocacy, violence documentation, and survivor services, both within and on behalf of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities.

Equality Ohio defends the rights of LGBTQ Ohioans. They are Ohio’s only organization dedicated solely to the civil rights of LGBTQ Ohioans. 

They work in communities across the state to ensure that local laws reflect and protect LGBTQ residents. They also work at the Ohio Statehouse to make sure that our state laws are fair to LGBTQ people, and that Ohio does not take a step backwards. And Equality Ohio is a voice at the federal level that represents the interest of LGBTQ Ohioans.

Equality Ohio holds elected leaders accountable for decisions they make that impact the LGBTQ community. In addition, we work on policy issues with healthcare facilities, corporations, service providers, and more.

Equality Ohio works on the issues affecting LGBTQ people and our communities through education, advocacy and mobilization efforts to achieve our vision: an Ohio where everyone feels at home and where equality, diversity and inclusiveness are universally valued.

Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of people worldwide. 

Planned Parenthood offers a number of services, including for HIV testing, case management, and prevention. They also believe everyone deserves high-quality, compassionate health care that’s appropriate for your needs and concerns — no matter your gender identity or sexual orientation. Their health centers provide education, support, and sexual and reproductive health services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex patients.

Kaleidoscope Youth Center is the largest and longest-standing organization in Ohio solely dedicated to serving and supporting queer youth. As an organization, it works to provide a safer place, programming, and leadership opportunities so that youth can be free to explore who they are and empowered to become their confident, truest self.

TransOhio serves the Ohio transgender and ally communities by providing services, education, support, and advocacy, which promotes and improves the health, safety and life experience of the Ohio transgender individual and community.

 

They strive to to provide social activities that are inclusive of all LGBTQ+ and ally communities, access to safe-spaces, people, forums for confidential discussion, support, and local and national resource information

GLSEN’s programs support student and educator-led initiatives for change in schools. These include national Days of Action, organizing resources, and guidance around forming and sustaining clubs and GSAs. GLSEN also partners with supportive educators by offering lesson plans, professional development, trainings and more.
